If you want to really prove yourself as an actor of merit you can't go wrong with William Shakespeare - from Orson Welles to Laurence Olivier, the great bard has long been a good measure of an actor's strengths and ability. Michael Fessbender and Marion Cottilard are the latest to take on the challenge, playing Macbeth and his manipulative wife respectively in Justin Kurzel's adaptation of the classic play. It'll be interesting to see what the Snowtown director makes of the source material and how he'll handle the epic sense of scale - early production photographs certainly show promise. A strong supporting cast including Sean Harris and Paddy Considine adds more talent to the roster - the odds are certainly in favour of Macbeth and it stands as good a chance as anything else in competition this year of picking up the big prize.
