Cannes 2015: 10 Potentially Incredible Films In Competition

2. Sicario

Another director who has made the move to English language productions with impressive results is Canada's Dennis Villeneuve. Having made a name for himself with the Oscar-nominated Incendies, he's perhaps better known for his collaborations with Jake Gyllenhaal, Prisoners and Enemy. His latest English language film Sicario continues the crime drama theme explored in Prisoners, this time following a police officer played by Emily Blunt as she crosses over into Mexico with a pair of mercenaries in order to track down a drug lord. Also starring Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin, the film is shot by cinematographer Roger Deakins, so at the very least it'll look fantastic. Villeneuve's track record is certainly impressive, so there's good reason to assume that Sicario will be well worth checking out. Whether it'll pick up the Palme d'Or remains to be seen.
