Cannes 2019: 10 Most Buzzed About Movies

9. The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse

Shot entirely in black and white in a bizarre lighthouse mimicking aspect ratio, Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse ran away with most of Cannes' critical praise this season.

With a tiny cast consisting primarily of Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson in what have been dubbed career best performances, The Lighthouse is a fantasy horror set on a remote island in New England. It's been hailed as incredibly unique and brilliantly composed in every aspect, including acting, writing, cinematography and score.

The success of this film couldn't have come at a better time for Robert Pattinson, as if his performance hits the right notes with general audiences as it did with critics, it could be the final bit of proof necessary to convince those critical of his casting as Batman to give him a chance.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
