In a movie that was so heavily S.H.I.E.L.D-focused (the entire plot generally revolved around the fact that HYDRA had been growing inside S.H.I.E.L.D for many years and ultimately resulted in the espionage organisation pretty much ceasing to exist), it has to be questioned why the likes of Phil Coulson and his team of agents from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D television series weren't even mentioned. Coulson, in particular, is a high-ranking member of the organisation and one would think that he would be one of the first people on the scene, given what happened in the movie. There is also the question of why Hawkeye wasn't called in to assist Captain America, Black Widow and Falcon in their mission to expose and bring down HYDRA. Surely these questions will be answered fairly soon with the S.H.I.E.L.D television series still ongoing, though?
