Captain America 2: 11 Questions We Want Answered

8. Will We See Crossbones Again?

Early in this movie we were introduced to Brock Rumlow - a S.H.I.E.L.D agent who, at first glance, appears to a helpful, obedient and very capable member of Steve Rogers' black ops S.T.R.I.K.E team. He joins Rogers and Black Widow in their first mission to (supposedly) rescue some hostages from a boat on which Batroc is aboard. He is, of course, later revealed to be a HYDRA agent working within S.H.I.E.L.D. and he ends up fighting against Captain America, Falcon and Black Widow in the film's final battle. He is very badly injured in the battle, but he survives it, ultimately resembling his comic book namesake - who is also known as Crossbones. This left audiences wondering if he is going to play a key role in the future as a more recognisable version of the comic book villain, complete with mask. His protective gear in this movie already had a very suggestive cross shape on it and it's hard to believe, given the attention his survival was given, that he won't appear again. Could it be in a Captain America sequel? Could it be in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Could it be in a One-Shot? Could it be somewhere else entirely? Only time will tell.
