Captain America 2 Ending: 11 Big Implications For Marvel Phase 3
9. Falcon Will Join The Avengers
With the Bucky/Winter Soldier story-line unresolved by the end of the sequel, it seems obvious that the next Captain America movie will centre at least partly on Cap's attempts to find and "free" his former childhood friend, no doubt discovering more surviving strands of HYDRA along the way, but not before he re-teams up with the rest of the Avengers to tackle the Ultron threat created or acknowledged first in Ant-Man, and then carried forward into The Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The end of Winter Soldier sees Falcon pledge his assistance to Rogers to find and help Bucky; wherever Cap goes, Sam Wilson follows, so presumably Falcon is going to be joining the Avengers initiative. So What Next? Hopefully, they won't play the tokenism card that saw Falcon join the Avengers first in the comics, and hopefully also they won't coincide his link-up with the superhero team with his discovery that he can telepathically control other birds, as happened at the same time as his second team-up. But it looks likely he's going to be involved in taking on Ultron in some form, and if he survives that, he's likely to follow Cap on his trip to find Bucky in Captain America 3. You definitely get the sense that Wilson's PTSD is going to play a future part - either in his role as counsellor to Bucky, or more dangerously as a tool used by a new villain to destabilise and potentially take him out (more of which soon).
