Captain America 2 Ending: 11 Big Implications For Marvel Phase 3
6. Captain America Will Have A Very Special Girlfriend
When Nick Fury and Cap are attacked in Steve Rogers' apartment, it is revealed that his neighbour is Sharon Carter, otherwise known as Agent 13, an operative of SHIELD, and occasional girlfriend of the First Avenger in the comic book world. She has had some intriguing storylines, but you have to suspect Feige and co won't look to the arc that saw her team up with Red Skull to stop a Neo-Nazi cult from resurrecting Adolph Hitler for inspiration for Phase 3 or beyond. Ultimately Agent 13 is revealed to be one of the non-HYDRA sympathetic SHIELD agents, who remains in service with what remains of SHIELD (as shown rather blatantly by the shot of her standing in a firing range, looking all determined). So What Next? Cap is going to get a private life that extends beyond shots of the interior of his apartment, and his choice of books. The introduction of Agent 13 is also particularly exciting for anyone holding onto those hopes that we'll get to see some version of the Secret Avengers in Phase 3. Her strong links with Red Skull storylines might also be an unwitting suggestion that we're going to be seeing the red domed arch-villain again at some point.
