Captain America 2 Ending: 11 Big Implications For Marvel Phase 3
5. Quick Silver & Scarlet Witch
The first (and best) post-credits scene (though technically it was mid-credits) established a number of things, but the most enticing is that Baron Strucker has apparently created new super soldier test subjects in the shape of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who he plans to unleash on the world. It's unlikely they're going to be introduced as mutants, given the murky waters of rights ownership with the X-Men stable, so the reasonable solution would be to have them as experiments like the Winter Soldier, who require the control of Loki's sceptre, which is also in Strucker's possession. So What Next? Strucker will presumably retain control of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver initially in Captain America 3, since he has Loki's sceptre - but the implication is that they are not willing test subjects, nor willing captives, and something will give in that situation (otherwise they wouldn't require locking up). However that plays out, there's a big hint that we will see the twins face off with some of the Avengers at some point, either in Age Of Ultron or beyond - with one of the more intriguing theories being that we could see Scarlet Witch use her powers to destabilise Falcon, as she did in the comic book universe having lost her mind, which could be the resolution to the narrative strand dedicated to both Falcom and Cap's implied PTSD. She could certainly at least use her powers to make him relive those horrors. And of course, with The Vision appearing in Age Of Ultron, there's also the suggestion that we could see the girl-on-robot love fest that sprung up after The Vision was turned to the good side and Scarlet and her brother joined the Avengers (as they surely must for the third Avengers movie).
