This is a controversial speculation, we know, but this seems like something that might actually be on the cards for a number of reasons - many of which seem to have been enforced by the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So firstly think for a second about the fact that Marvel overlord Kevin Fiege continually dodges questions about a solo Black Widow movie: one minute he says he think it's a great idea, the next he says it will probably never happen. Couple that with the fact that nobody knows how many movies Scarlett Johansson has signed up for, and we're looking at the character most likely to get killed off should Marvel go down that route: the other actors have signed multi-picture deals, after all, and - let's face it - they'd never off Thor, Iron Man, Captain America or the Hulk. And remember that hints were being dropped regarding character deaths the moment Age of Ultron was announced. Now, given what occurs in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, what with the "fake" death of Nick Fury, and the fact that Marvel pretty much gave Scarlett Johansson equal screen time with Chris Evans, suggests that a) we need somebody to die at some point soon in order to make us feel like there's some actual danger in the MCU and b) Black Widow has been about mysterious as she can be for three movies - it's time to open up her character. Regardless of her mysterious past, it seems fairly logical - and likely, given the events of The Winter Soldier - that she might end up dead. She's the most at risk character regardless, given her human status, but if Marvel haven't got the guts to kill off somebody like Nick Fury because they need a consistently authoritative character in place at all times (and they quite obviously don't), then Black Widow seems like the most likely candidate. And there's no doubting that her unexpected death would also bring great dramatic weight to the events of Captain America 3. What do you think of these predictions?
