Captain America: Civil War - 10 Controversial Ways It Could End

9. Spider-Man Goes Public With His Identity

One of the defining moments of the Civil War comic is when Spider-Man unmasks himself to the world, identifying himself as schoolteacher Peter Parker. Considering how the original story arc was all about protecting secret identities, that act had a ton of significance and shaped the remainder of the conflict.

Many have dismissed the possibility of this happening on screen since it doesn€™t fit with the narrative of superhero accountability that the cinematic Civil War will be dealing with. Thus, shoving the famous scene in where it doesn't belong would make its inclusion troubling for some.

To have Spider-Man so thoroughly on board with government oversight that he's willing to reveal himself publicly would be a bold statement, but also a problematic one. It would drastically alter his solo outings with the public knowledge of his identity. It would also seem to be a distraction to he main goings on of the Civil War plot. Hopefully this scene will get left in the comics and not anchor the resolution of the film.
