Captain America: Civil War - 10 Controversial Ways It Could End

4. Falcon Takes Over As Captain America Instead Of Bucky

A lot of people are expecting that one way or another, Steve Rogers is not going to able to carry on his mantle by the end of the film. Operating under that assumption, it would seem that someone is likely to step into his place and become the new Captain America. The general thought is that Bucky a.k.a. The Winter Soldier would do so as he was the one to take over during the comics. So if the Russos really wanted to annoy a lot of fans, they could eschew the chronology and give the role to Falcon instead.

He€™s certainly a prominent character, he€™s played by a strong actor and it doesn€™t hurt that making him a more prominent character would only further Marvel€™s efforts of diversity. But none of those reasons would appease seething fans who have been waiting to see Bucky Cap ever since he re-emerged last film.

Ironically, Sam Wilson is currently Captain America in the comics, but that fact won€™t sate many fans. The legacy means more to Bucky and to give it to someone else would piss a lot of people off.
