Captain America: Civil War - 10 Major Reveals From The New Images
10. Iron Man Is Definitely Civil War's Antagonist
While it's been established in past interviews that Iron Man won't be the villainous overseer of Captain America: Civil War, it certainly sounds like the majority of the audience will end up rooting for Cap (even if, like the comic books, there are those who agree with Tony's stance). In fact, Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that he has no problem with being the movie's main antagonist! "It didnt bother me at all," he said when asked how it feels to be delivering a very different take on Tony Stark in this movie. "Ive always thought of it in some ways that Tony is the antagonist to himself in his own story, so this isnt a problem. This guy understands problems cause he is a problem. And he tends to create problems. I wholeheartedly agree with what he does in this," the actor added in regards to why Tony Stark decides to support the idea of superheroes registering with the government. "Which is, by the way, more than I could say for some of the other movies." That's a rather interesting dig, though which Marvel movie he might be referring to is hard to say! Regardless, it's quickly become apparent that the relationship between him and Steve Rogers is really going to be put to the test, and that's something which Chris Evans elaborated on when asked about how the events of Captain America: Civil War will lead to both men truly realising their differences. "They do respect each other but theyre just very different men," he explains. "You do have those moments of connection, like at the end of Age of Ultron when I say, 'I will miss you, Tony.' There is a love and respect there...and thats what makes this so tragic." So, despite how huge a movie this is going to end up being, it's clearly going to be a very personal one too.
