Captain America: Civil War - 10 Major Reveals From The New Images

7. Black Panther's Motivations

Entertainment Weekly has stirred a fair bit of controversy up this week with their ill advised decision to compare Black Panther to a "Real Housewife" and by having him say "Meow" on the cover, but the information inside is at least a little easier to digest. While the trailer appeared to point to T'Challa siding with Iron Man, he actually sounds rather conflicted about whose side to come down on. "There definitely is a sort of tradition that he€™s torn between, in terms of how things were done in the past and how things need to happen now in this new world,€ star Chadwick Boseman explains. "I think there€™s perhaps a bit of a maverick there, and then there€™s also a need to live up to traditions and his father€™s legacy. And not even his father€™s legacy, but the entire nation of Wakanda. I think those are the things you will see." Kevin Feige meanwhile was quick to point out that Black Panther's role in Captain America: Civil War is much more significant than a glorified cameo, with real consequences here and some major set up for the character's solo outing in 2018. The site even points out that they believe his father was killed or injured in one of the blasts targeting world leaders which Bucky has been framed for being involved with. Fascinatingly, the Russo Brothers also revealed that Black Panther's entire costume is made of Vibranium, not just his claws and the metal pieces which are on show. The whole thing is "like medieval chain mail, woven extremely thin," according to Anthony Russo, while Boseman reveals the advantages to T'Challa donning such a unique get up. "It€™s not just about being durable, it has the ability to absorb energy. It€™s not just like you hit it and it doesn€™t take it. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person and repel or respond to that attack. That€™s part of the power." That fight with Captain America should be interesting then...
