Captain America: Civil War - 10 Theories On How It All Ends
5. Spider-Man Unmasks, Wins The War For Stark
It would be a shocker, especially when you consider his young age and the fact that it will be his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but some fans still believe that Peter Parker will unmask in Captain America: Civil War, just as he does in the comic book counterpart. The 2006-2007 comic paints Spider-Man as being torn between two of the heroes he has grown up admiring and not knowing what to do when both Iron Man and Captain America come calling for help. In the end Tony Stark convinces an impressionable Parker to reveal his identity to the world, and then has him encourage others to come forward to do the same, the first big coup for Iron Man's pro-superhero registration campaign. As cool as Spider-Man unmasking at the end of the movie and winning the world over to Stark's cause would be, that part of Mark Millar's comic is highly unlikely to make the movie version, purely because of the longevity of the character in question. Director of the upcoming Spider-Man solo movie Jon Watts has already confirmed that Peter Parker will be a 15-year-old high school kid when he makes his bow, and there would be little sense in having his identity known to the world at that stage. As well as immediately removing the chance to play with the secret identity angle for a little while, having Spider-Man unmask himself in such a manner would not hold much weight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe considering his place in the pecking order. He has some serious ass to kick before the revelation of his true identity is enough to stop a war.
