6. He Doesn't Actually Have Any Superpowers
Despite having super strength and a variety of other powers himself, it’s somewhat surprising to realize that most of Cap’s foes are non-powered. Included in a movie that will feature a sentient android, a man who can shrink, and a literal witch, is the very ordinary and unpowered Baron Zemo.
Instead, he’s got a fearsome intellect, having proven himself as an apt scientist and inventor. Furthermore, he’s been painted as a master manipulator, often lurking in the shadows, crafting grand plans and making others do his bidding for him.
Even with all of this intellectual prowess, that’s not to say he can’t hold his own in a fight. Zemo is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, proving to easily stand up to Cap when he needs to. In essence, he’s like Lex Luthor with a sword.
Although he's occasionally augmented himself with the use of magical moonstones, he's typically depicted as unpowered, so when matched up against a nemesis with enhanced speed, strength, endurance and much more, it speaks to how capable Zemo is. His ability to hold his own surely offers a promise for his character’s abilities in Civil War.
