4. The Science Bros Get A New Member
Spider-Man remains one of the most intriguing elements of Civil War, and how he fits in with the main cast as a supporting player is a sizeable question. The Russos have
offered some hints at an important dynamic between him and one other character: Spider-Man enters the movie after the Avengers sort of pick sides. Hes doesnt have a huge investment politically, but he develops a very personal relationship while he picks his side. I wont talk about the personal relationship he develops, but its very interesting. One of the most special parts of the movie. The question here is who that personal relationship is with. Consulting the comic books suggests he will align with Iron Man - especially since Robert Downey Jr is said to be involved in the stand-alone Marvel Spider-Man movie - who might become a surrogate father who shares scientific passion with Peter Parker. He is on the look out for a new Science Bro, after all.
Rating: 9/10 Stark and Parker together makes an awful lot of sense. That probably won't lead to the famous unmasking scene in the Civil War comic - because it wouldn't make sense narratively - but Parker has a track record of seeking older, gifted men for company, knowledge and guidance. In most cases, it backfires in his face, including ultimately with Stark, but it seems an easy leap to assume they do become friends. And of course, their blossoming relationship opens up another possibility...
