3. Steve Dies At The End, Bucky Becomes The New Cap
The Rumour: Just like in the comics, Cap dies at the end, and Bucky ends up taking his place as the new Captain America.
How Much We Believed It: This one could've really gone either way. On one hand, it's a comic book arc so well-known that merely following it would be super predicable for a huge chunk of the audience, but it would also have undeniable emotional impact.
We didn't discount a subversive spin on the comic version which basically ended up with the same result, but something totally different (like Bucky dying instead) was also a huge possibility. 5/10
The Truth: Surprisingly, there's no big death at the end of the movie. The big three candidates, Cap, Iron Man and Bucky, all survive, with the only significant casualty being Bucky's bionic arm getting blasted off by Iron Man.
Buck then gets put back into the big freeze in Wakanda in the mid-credits scene, so it's safe to say that if they're going to follow the comic, it won't be until Thanos potentially kills Cap in Infinity War Part 1, and perhaps only then does a cured Bucky assume the Captain America mantle.
