Captain America: Civil War - 8 Plot Twists No One Will See Coming

8. Iron Man Is Going To Die

The Civil War comic book ended with Captain America being arrested and then assassinated in an epilogue issue, hence why the majority of fans are going into this big screen adaptation under the belief that Marvel will bring to life one of the character's most iconic and shocking moments by killing him. If there's one thing the studio isn't though, it's predictable, and so if there is going to be a major character death in Captain America: Civil War, Tony Stark being the one to take a bullet makes a whole lot more sense. Robert Downey Jr. may like the huge cheques Marvel writes him to appear in these movies, but he's made it clear a number of times that he's ready to move on from the role (hence why there's no Iron Man 4 in Phase 3 despite the fact that the last instalment grossed over $1 billion). Killing Iron Man off would be a bold move, but as a resurrection by way of the Infinity Gauntlet could happen in Avengers: Infinity War, it's not like we'd necessarily be saying goodbye to him forever. Following one final appearance from Downey Jr. there, Marvel could recast the role, but for now, Civil War would be a great place for Iron Man to fall. If, like his comic book counterpart, Stark's insistence to enforce the Accords sets him down a villainous path, then him diving in front of Captain America in the closing few moments of the movie to save his life and redeem himself would be a powerful and touching moment. However it may happen though, Iron Man being taken out instead of Cap would leave moviegoers with their jaws on the floor!
