Captain America: Civil War - 8 Ways It Could Ruin Everything
3. It Might Just Put Off Sorting Things Out Properly Until Infinity War
With little in the way of a plot outline to work with further than the well-trailed schism, and the plot looking pretty well-stuffed with action and intrigue with just that to be getting on with, I have a sneaking suspicion that Civil War will hold off on really getting to grips with key plot points and leave it all to the two halves of Infinity War. That'd be a pretty shabby way to treat fans, and could properly sour things before Avengers 3.
Its great that there are a shedload of Marvel movies in pre-production, and it's also great that a good amount of them are going to carry the Avengers narrative forward. However, given that theres an awful lot of time to be filled over the course of Civil War, Infinity War Part 1 and Infinity War Part 2, the temptation to spread the revelations a little thinly across their plotlines and pad it out with much less interesting sawdust has to be resisted. I mean, the Banner-Romanoff love story is nice and everything, but I do wish theyd just shag each other and get it over with.
Not only would a lack of proper pay-offs be pretty frustrating, but it'd make Infinity War: Part 2 an unholy mess of unrelated emotional scenes linked by explosions rather than a proper stand-alone film. Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 suffered from that a fair bit, and it'd be a sad way to end a great arc.
