Captain America: Civil War - 9 Major Concerns From The New Trailer

3. Lots Of Characters Don't Appear To Be Acting True To Themselves

Granted, this particular aspect will more than likely wind up justifying itself in the final product, but right now there seems to be some kind of disconnect going on between the way the characters are acting and what fans of the franchise know about them already. This article has already touched on Captain America acting out of character by way of his radical defence of Bucky Barnes (it seems unlikely that the Captain would risk everything for him), but there are other characters who feel like they've been shoe-horned into roles they wouldn't necessarily take for the sake of having this "Civil War" storyline. And the new trailer really emphasises that: it seems kind of odd that Tony Stark would be so enthusiastic with regards to placing restrictions on superheroes, given that he has pretty much spent the span of all the movies arguing against that. He's never been the kind of guy to obey the government - why would he start now? Weird that he's just switched sides. Also: would Black Widow really go up against the Captain, warning him to stay away for fear she'll have to fight him? Or against Hawkeye, who has been her best friend for years? Nothing about the character motivations glimpsed thus far make a whole lot of sense when viewed alongside the previous films in the MCU canon. Hopefully it will all wind up feeling legitimate by the time the final movie swings around, but right now it's a bit of a concern.
