Captain America: Civil War - 9 Rumours We Already Know Were Bullsh*t

5. Hulk And Red Hulk Appear

The Rumour: Firstly, that Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk would appear in the movie, building on his relationship with Tony Stark and adding another Avenger into the fight. These rumours were compounded back in February, when Anthony Mackie (Falcon) mentioned Ruffalo as one of the actors in Civil War.

Secondly, that Red Hulk would also appear, with the returning General Ross transforming into the character at some point in Civil War, presenting another villain to fight and giving more reason for his return after eight years away.

Why It's Bullsh*t: Ruffalo debunked the idea of his Hulk appearing in Civil War, when he spoke with BadTaste.it last year (via ComingSoon):

"I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don’t want to reveal where is he and why. I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon.”

Now of course we do know when he'll be back, as he's going to have a big part to play in Thor: Ragnarok next year, a move that further rubbishes the idea of him turning up in Civil War, because it would make exactly zero sense now.

As for Red Hulk, this one has been called out by Joe Russo, the co-director of the movie. Speaking at an event in China, via Movie Pilot, he said: "There’s always a chance at Marvel that you can see anything... But there - uh - let's say there is no Red Hulk in Civil War."
