Captain America: Civil War - 9 Rumours We Already Know Were Bullsh*t

4. Black Panther Is Neutral

The Rumour: The one originally came from Kevin Fiege, who stated: "In the case of Civil War, we needed a third party, we needed a character who wasn’t on either Captain America or Iron Man’s side, which is why we went, 'You know what? We’re doing a Black Panther movie, but it would actually be smart to have him fill this role we need in Civil War and introduce him here first.'"

This idea of Panther as a neutral figure was backed up by Anthony Russo, who back in December told a panel at a CCXP in Brazil: "He’s very central to the story. He comes into the story early. What’s great about Black Panther in this movie is, all the characters choose a side, Captain America’s side or Iron Man’s side. Black Panther never chooses a side." So not even so much a rumour as it is confirmed by the people making the movie...

Why It's Bullsh*t: Well, it's hard to refute when the person directing the movie, and the guy overseeing the entire MCU, have both said Black Panther will be neutral, but that's what I'm gonna do.

Why? Because, based on everything we've seen, it's very difficult to say that Black Panther is neutral. He may get involved in the war for his own, personal reasons, but he's still a part of it, and he's fighting Team Cap. The trailers have shown that he is almost certainly after Bucky, with the pair fighting and Black Panther chasing him down. However, we've also seen him in conflict with Captain America as well, while he's very much on Team Iron Man in the line-up shot before the big superhero battle. He might not be fighting because of the Sokovia Accords, but he's still battling on Team Iron Man.
