Captain America: Civil War - 9 Rumours We Already Know Were Bullsh*t

1. Cap And/Or Iron Man Will Die

The Rumour: Someone is going to die in Civil War - it's called a war, after all - and pretty much every character has been mentioned as a potential candidate. However, being the two leads of the film, Captain America and Iron Man are particularly mentioned, as they're at the forefront of this, so it goes that one of them will die for it to properly end. Cap's death fits with the comics, while Iron Man's would be a subversion of that, and go with the idea of him being the villain of the movie.

Why It's Bullsh*t: Because, well, it's Captain America and Iron Man. Please note that I haven't seen the movie, nor have I read any reviews or spoilers, so this isn't based on knowledge of what actually does happen.

Cynically speaking, it'd make no sense for Marvel to kill off their two biggest, most lucrative characters at this stage, when they're only at the very beginning of Phase Three (plus all those kids buying that merch are not ready to see either of these guys die). Then there's the fact that both Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. have more movies left on their Marvel contracts, and it's unthinkable that Marvel would kill either of them off before Avengers: Infinity War. Even if they do die, they'll be Jon Snow dead, which is to say they'll come back, but it probably won't even get that far.

The pool of characters who could realistically die in Civil War is actually quite small (Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Spider-Man all have their own films after it; War Machine has been in peril in the trailers, so they wouldn't spoil that; and it seems unlikely they'd kill off Vision, Black Widow, or Scarlet Witch at this stage, given their potential as characters (and lack of major female players in the MCU). So, Hawkeye or Falcon then?
