That's right. This is still a Captain America movie and, like Downey, Chris Evans brings his best work to the new film. Steve Rogers has already been confronted with a world that no longer subscribes to the ideals that motivated him and his fellow soldiers to enlist and fight in World War II. The difference here is that it's harder than ever for Cap to be sure he's right and perhaps we're not sure either.

It's easy to understand why Captain America does not want to place control of The Avengers in the hands of any government entity. He just got done dismantling S.H.I.E.L.D. because the organization had been compromised by Hydra from the very start. There's no such thing as a government body that is immune to corruption and Cap feels like the risk of the wrong hands eventually guiding The Avengers is too big to take.

It's a fair position, but Cap isn't exactly unbiased here. His best friend, Bucky, is a wanted man and a major test of the new superhero status quo brought on by the Sokovia Accords. As Rogers digs in his heels against the Accords, how much of that is motivated by his political views versus his desire to protect his friend?

Steve Rogers has never had to deal with a moral dilemma quite like this and it is fascinating to watch it play out thanks in large part to Evans.
