Rather excitingly, we got to see the Winter Soldier during what appears to be his creation. Strapped in to a chair in what appears to be a heavily guarded room, Bucky Barnes is seen topless, with some machinery attached to his head and his new bionic arm clearly on show. We also see him coming round from being unconscious - presumably from the procedure that made him who he is - and moving his bionic arm for what could be the first time (in a scene that is a carbon copy of the comic book scenes in which the Winter Soldier's origins were shown). Although it's still not clarified who turns him in to this brainwashed cyborg assassin in the Marvel cinematic universe, it seems likely that HYDRA and Arnim Zola are involved (which has led some people to believe that Robert Redford's Alexander Pierce is actually a guise of the Red Skull, but you can make your own judgement on that wild call) and that would certainly explain why he's gunning for Captain America, and it was just cool to see something about how Bucky has become what he is in this movie.
