Captain Marvel: 10 Biggest Changes From The Comics

5. Why Carol Is In Space

Unlike her Kree kidnapping and indoctrination on-screen, Danvers' reasoning for being in space in the comics is entirely voluntary.

Also unlike the film, the Captain hadn't really left our solar system for an extended period of time, with her only really venturing into the stars to face a cosmic threat alongside the Avengers or X-Men, but that all changed in, you guessed, Kelly Sue DeConnick's run.

Following Jonathan Hickman's brilliantly written Infinity event (a book which Avengers: Infinity War drew a lot of inspiration from), Iron Man expressed to Carol how the Avengers needed a presence in space (as you can see in the image above) and wanting to go higher, further, faster and do more Danvers obviously leapt at the chance, spending many an issue off-planet.

During this time the character joined forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy on a number of occasions, something which seemed to enjoy vastly more than the waging of war seen in the film.
