Captain Marvel: 10 Questions We Still Have

5. How Is The Quantum Realm Involved?

We already know that the quantum realm plays a pivotal role in Captain Marvel, but beyond that, everything's totally up in the air.

The quantum realm is particularly pertinent at present considering that Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) ended up trapped inside it during Ant-Man and the Wasp's mid-credits scene, and it's widely expected that it will be instrumental in allowing The Avengers to travel back in time to defeat Thanos (Josh Brolin).

At the start of the year, Samuel L. Jackson accidentally let slip that Captain Marvel has the ability to time travel, and this is therefore likely an ability that Carol develops near the end of the movie.

We're going to guess that Carol going Binary (as seen in the trailers) might be reworked for the MCU. Rather than drawing immense power from a white hole as in the comics, she'll actually be able to harness it from the quantum realm.

Better yet, her link to the quantum realm will be a result of her initial accident, which could've seen her exposed to quantum energy.

Alternatively, it's possible we actually see Carol travelling inside the quantum realm, though between Ant-Man and the Wasp and its likely appearance in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel doesn't want to risk over-exposing audiences to the cosmic landscape.
