Captain Marvel: 10 Reasons To Be Excited
7. S.W.O.R.D. (?)
Where's S.W.O.R.D., Marvel? It's a question fans have been asking since the MCU opened the doors to cosmic elements, and it's about time the Sentient World Observation and Response Department came a-knocking, what with all the cosmic threats their world's had to face in recent years.
Though there's no clue of it existing yet, its presence might have slipped as much under the radar as Captain Marvel herself, between the nineties and present day. Given her role as a military woman dealing with cosmic threats, why wouldn't this division have been founded, or at least conceptualised, in her time?
If it doesn't yet exist, there's also the possibility that it will be founded after Thanos' attack, perhaps mentioned a few times in concept in the Captain's solo film before eventually coming to fruition in Avengers 4, or any of the upcoming unnamed Phase Four films.
The existence of the Nova Corps already gives Marvel its own cosmic police force, but another questionable alphabet agency after the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. to respond to the Earth's threats would be welcome. After all, Abigail Brand and her crew would make an amazing new addition to the MCU's lineup.
