Captain Marvel: 10 Reasons To Be Excited
6. The Kree Connection
Not only have the Kree played a big part in films such as Guardians of the Galaxy, they've also made their presence known in a big way in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, where their experiments on early human life led to the formation of Inhumans, and the blood and genetic material harvested from a preserved Kree corpse brought Agent Coulson back to life.
The Kree have considerable power and pull in the MCU, with figures like Ronan the Accuser, among others, presenting conceivable threats to figures as terrifying as Thanos himself. Their Empire, at war with the Skrulls, give enormity to their presence, and their invading forces rival many in the vast reaches of space.
Apart from their in-universe power, however, the fact that they connect TV to film sets a precedent not seen in the Marvel Universe before—the TV series quite possibly influencing events in Marvel's films (at least, in terms of how they present Kree technology from the past). The cross from TV to film is something fans have been begging for since the MCU's first TV series, and the Kree might just be the key to that.
