Captain Marvel: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

5. Nineties Nostalgia

With all the eighties nostalgia being flaunted in nearly every corner of modern media, it was about time fanswe got a bit of a nineties throwback, especially for all the nineties kids making up much of the audience of these late-2010s blockbusters.

A lot of the excitement is attached to seeing what the MCU looked like before the public rise of superheroes in the 2010s, especially after the Battle of New York. What was S.H.I.E.L.D. like before their techy new millennium equipment and the far reaches of today's internet at their disposal? What were Nick Fury, Coulson, and possibly even Maria Hill, up to back in the day?

Another part of the less-explored nostalgia bomb was the fashion, trends, and music of the nineties, awesome and ridiculous in equal measure. Who wouldn't pay to see fan-favourite S.H.I.E.L.D. agents rocking those nineties duds? Listening to strangely popular white rappers, a buffet of boy bands, and Britney Spears when she was young and happy?

Hopefully not too gratuitous in its references, part of the fun of this film will be fondly remembering what the world looked like on the cusp of the new millennium, and that's something most fans look forward to.
