7. Mar-Vell Views Carol As His "Pet Project"

Though it's been known for months that Jude Law will be playing Starforce commander Walter Lawson aka Mar-Vell, neither Law nor EW have actually revealed his name, which is more than a little suspicious.

Regardless, Mar-Vell will be Carol's mentor and reportedly views her as his "pet project". Law said of the relationship between Lawson and Danvers, "These extraordinary powers she has, he sees them as something of a blessing and something that she has to learn how to control...That’s a motif throughout the piece, the element of learning to control one’s emotions and to use your powers wisely."

Fingers crossed there's no forced romance between the two, because we all know how well Marvel typically pulls that off.
