7. Nick Fury Loses His Eye To A Skrull Imposter

The Rumour: Probably the most widely-believed rumour on this list was that Nick Fury would likely lose an eye due to Skrull shenanigans, where one of the Skrulls impersonates Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) or somebody else close to him.

The Truth: As much sense as this made, the movie surprisingly - and hilariously - plays the sight loss for laughs.

After teasing Fury's ocular impairment in the film's opening Los Angeles chase, he ends up losing an eye outright after his new pet cat/Flerken Goose scratches him in the eye.

The tail-end of the movie reveals that Fury decides to obscure the precise nature of his injury, with Coulson believing that it was burned out by a Kree torturer.

As much as it undermines the meaning of Fury telling Cap, "The last time I trusted somebody..." in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it also emphasises just how embarrassed Fury was to lose an eye to something as adorable as Goose.

Plus, Goose did technically betray Fury's trust, so it's not like the Winter Soldier line was a lie or contradicted by the events of this movie.
