For the majority of Captain Marvel Carol wears the teal and black colours of the Kree. However, when it becomes apparent they're not who they say they are, she decides that her suit needs a makeover, which leads her to take on the iconic red and blue hue of Jamie McKelvie's costume.

In the build up to that happening, though, Monica cycles through a whole bunch of different colour schemes for Carol. There's a green and white look, which is itself a callback to the original Captain Marvel outfit, a red and black look, which harkens back to her Ms. Marvel look, and then a black and gold one, which is a clear reference to her Warbird look.

She cycles through all of them before settling on the red and blue, but it's a great way of paying homage to her past incarnations all the same.
