Captain Marvel: 9 MCU Characters Who Could Appear
8. Hank Pym
After discovering Pym Particles and creating the Ant-Man suit, Hank Pym began putting it all to use to perform missions for S.H.I.E.L.D. through the 1980s, along with his wife, Janet van Dyne. Unfortunately, in 1987, Hank "lost" Janet during a mission, something that took a heavy toll on him and resulted in his departure from S.H.I.E.L.D. in 1989, hiding the Ant-Man suit and burying all the research and tech that came with it.
Of course, Hank's life has since changed, and we'll be seeing him again in next month's Ant-Man and the Wasp, but it's not as though he was sitting on his hands over the years between leaving S.H.I.E.L.D. and entering Scott Lang's life. After leaving S.H.I.E.L.D., Hank went on to form Pym Technologies in the 1990s, an act that flooded him with wealth.
Like Obadiah Stane, Hank Pym doesn't need to play a major part in Captain Marvel, as it really wouldn't serve the narrative or fit into his own personal timeline. That said, Pym Technologies had a meteoric rise in the 1990s, and Captain Marvel acknowledging that fact to color its own world by having Hank - or even a young Darren Cross, for that matter - appear on the news early in the film, for instance, would once again serve to tie together the overall MCU timeline without feeling like unnecessary fan service.
