1. Why Captain Marvel Has Never Helped Out Since
Samuel L Jackson's online retaliation at critics was justifiable. One of the biggest rants from the fan community was that Carol's upgrading of Fury's pager should have incensed him to contact her during the several past cases of Earth's peril. As if her line of "Emergencies only" wasn't clarification enough.
As Jackson stated, the comparatively small-fry scenarios of Loki's invasion and Ultron's ravaging of Sokovia warranted nowhere near the same level of desperation as Thanos' decimation. Yes, buildings were leveled, islands were destroyed and people were killed, but let's consider that planet Earth needed to be seen as a world capable of dealing with its own problems internally and, except for the occasional hammer-wielding god, not call on outside help. Only then could the big-bads of the universe consider Earth too formidable to be messed with.
Except in the most recent case, a big bad of the universe not only invaded, but succeeded in his mission too, meaning there was no option left than to call upon the favours of the super-powered Captain Marvel. Even SHIELD and The Avengers can't rally much force against a dusted 50% of all life...
