2. Why We've Never Heard From The Skrulls Since
Those Skrulls did indeed seem menacing when they were emerging from the sea and masquerading as the elderly on public transport. So why aren't effects of their infiltration felt in present-day MCU? Because, folks, there was never an infiltration to begin with. The only related threat was from the misleading propaganda spread by the Kree.
The shocking face-turn of the Skrulls was one of the biggest changes to the comic story-lines. And the MCU deserves credit at least for keeping even the most die-hard fans on their toes. And those who are dissatisfied can still to take solace in the fact that the galactic Skrull empire was huge and multitudinous in the comics, and so could still exist out there in villainous form.
As for the surprisingly lovable Skrulls of Captain Marvel? Well, their future was refuge somewhere in space, far away from Earth. Or was it? With there being a lengthy gap between Captain Marvel and the present, it's possible that some misunderstood representatives of the Skrull populous returned to Earth in hiding, and with motives far from sinister.
