The first Skrull invasion of Earth came in a 1962 Fantastic Four comic. And during that Period of Marvel lore, The Fantastic Four were the only heroic force powerful enough to stop them. Therefore, they were the first to be impersonated and furthermore vilified by the Skrulls.
