6. The Secret Invasion Storyline Engulfed The Entire Marvel Universe
The Fantastic Four may have thwarted the original Skrull Invasion, but that didn't stop the green alien perpetrators by any stretch. The most colossal attack on Earth came in the form of 2008's mega-crossover Secret Invasion event, the scope of which rivalled the Civil War comic-book event two years earlier.
The Secret Wars delivered the premise that some of Marvel's beloved superheroes had been infiltrated by the Skrulls, and for a lot longer than anyone had realized. It re-introduced the 'who-to-trust' premise to the Marvel World, and placed virtually every superhero in the Skrull firing line.
It is extremely likely that this element could be borrowed and placed in 2019's Captain Marvel movie. Not only do the Skrull walk among superheroes, but they have been for quite some time.
