Captain Marvel Review: 7 Ups & 6 Downs

3. The Soundtrack

The No Doubt moment will no doubt generate a lot of conversation as more people see Captain Marvel, but it probably won't be entirely hated, no matter how on-the-nose it is. And that moment aside, the soundtrack is as joyful as the Guardians Of The Galaxy ones and will probably generate a lot of Spotify hours.

Some of the tracks in there - by Nirvana, TLC and Garbage, among many more - are pure nostalgia for anyone who grew up in the 90s (or was horribly already grown to a degree that the film makes them feel old and sad) and reflect how effectively the 90s love-in is crafted. Sure, some of the references might confuse younger audiences, but they get enough out of life with their youth and their hairlines as it is.

It's a bit of a shame that there's no Nine Inch Nails on the soundtrack, though. But at least the band have released a special limited edition T-shirt to commemorate their part in the movie. That's a great touch.
