6. It's Surprisingly Funny

As the trailers already established pretty well, Captain Marvel has a firm eye on comedy. The final trailer in particularly went big on the banter between Nick Fury and Danvers and by now the MCU has a reputation for catering to family audiences by adding in some gags and silliness.

Sometimes, that can be a little distracting from the rest of the story, particularly when the plot is supposed to be quite dramatic (see Age Of Ultron's reception, for example) or when it seems to be needlessly shoe-horned in for the sake of it. In both cases, the humour tends to ring a little hollow, so it's great to see a couple of reviewers notably mentioning how funny the film is.

And even better, it seems that Danvers herself is a witty character, which further puts to bed the suggestions that Larson's performance is in some way lacking life...
