Captain Marvel Trailer: 12 Things You Might've Missed

12. Carol Is A "Rengeade Soldier"

One of the trailer's introductory lines sees Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) quip, "I know a renegade soldier when I see one. It never occurred to me that one might come from above."

Though at first this might sound like a pretty generic, innocuous line building up Carol Danvers' (Brie Larson) arrival on Earth, it actually may be loaded with far more meaning than you think.

While it'd be easy to assume that Carol crashed to Earth after a botched mission as a soldier in the Kree's Starforce, the fact that Fury calls her a renegade suggests all wasn't sunshine and rainbows during her intergalactic enlistment.

Could Carol have been shot down by one of her own after she disobeyed a Starforce order?

Given that the Kree counts Ronan (Lee Pace) and Korath (Djimon Hounsou) among its ranks, it's not terribly surprising the movie looks set to depict the famed Kree-Skrull War from the comics with a certain moral ambiguity, while both Carol and humanity are caught in the middle.
