2007 was a banner year for Casey, as he had not one, but two breakout performances that year. In addition to his muted, anti-heroic turn in Gone Baby Gone, he also showed some impressive range with his muted, cowardly turn in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. All jokes about the subtleties of Affleck€™s acting style aside, his Robert Ford was a fully absorbing character. By turns devoted and unhinged, deplorable and tragic, the intricacies of Ford€™s personality were as well-communicated as they could be thanks to the young actor. Besides, anyone who can go toe-to-toe with Brad Pitt deserves a high-five, bare minimum. Casey instead was rewarded with a nomination for an Academy Award. Now on to the poor performances...
