Casting A Live Action Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Movie

20. Maes Hughes - Zachary Levi

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood Sloth Braun Strowman
NBC

Maes Hughes might be a small role, but it's an extremely important one. After all, his death is the trigger that makes Roy Mustang try to bring down the government and exact his plan on becoming Fuhrer of Amestris.

Up until the point that he cottons on that there's something foul going on beneath Central Command, Hughes ist mostly used for comedic purposes. We're sure we won't need to remind you of how much he loves his wife and daughter, much to Mustang's chagrin.

If you've seen Zachary Levi in a show like Chuck or recent superhero blockbuster, Shazam!, you'll know that he's a great comedy actor. He's sharp, witty and doesn't take himself too seriously. which is pretty much how Hughes is throughout his brief character arc.

Although he leans a little more towards being humorous, he did show some range in Chuck. It wasn't all action scenes and pop culture references and he showed that could give a good dramatic performance when it's called upon.
