Casting Ben Affleck's Chinatown Movie
2. Faye Dunaway - Gillian Anderson
Faye Dunaway, much like her character Evelyn Mulwray, was a woman who carried herself with exceptional dignity at all times and there are few actresses working today who can pull off this kind of character as well as Gillian Anderson.
Anderson has seen something of a renaissance lately since her heydays in the X-Files, with star turns in the brilliant crime thriller The Fall and more recently earning serious plaudits for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown.
She is an exceptional actress who seems to immerse herself in any role she plays with staggering success. Affleck's film is assumedly set to focus on the shooting of Chinatown as much as the antics around its production and so a lot of the film will probably rest on the shoulders of the main two stars. Gillian Anderson is not only a huge draw at the moment, but one who certainly has the acting chops to pull off not one but two classy female leads at once.
Although Dunaway will probably not feature quite as much as the more manic Jack Nicholson, Anderson's grace, dignity and ability could be just as invaluable to a successful film for Affleck.
