Casting Marvel's 10 Next Superhero Movies

7. Blade €“ Michael Jai White

Michael Jai Blade I was as shocked as anyone when I first heard these rumours, but apparently Marvel are thinking of resurrecting Blade. To be fair, it seems only right €“ the first Blade was fifteen years ago (that€™s crazy, isn€™t it?) and wrapped up in a storm of mediocrity after 2004€™s Blade Trinity. So soon enough, we€™ll have had a decade where the badass vampire hunter€™s gone untouched, and that€™s just sad. Marvel (Well, Fox) rebooted Spiderman after barely half that time, so it stands to reason that the studio€™s not going to let sleeping franchises lie. But who to play him? Well, if they€™re going to continue going down the slightly cheaper film route €“ and they probably would with Balde after the Trinity fiasco €“ big names might be slightly out of the question. To my mind then, I can think of no-one better than Michael Jai White. Known to some of you as Black Dynamite and by all of you as Gamble, the crimelord who got his face cut open by the Joker in The Dark Knight, White has a physicality and a sense of coiled menace about him that would perfectly suit the part of Blade. If anything, he€™s quite like pre-crazy Wesley Snipes. Honestly, I think that€™s no bad thing €“ as long as White doesn€™t implode on a film set like Snipes did, then I€™ve got no reason to believe this wouldn€™t turn out well. Plus, someone needs to give him a good role after Black Dynamite €“ that film was hilarious. Just look at that mustache.
