Casting The Fantastic Four In The MCU

4. The Thing - Terry Crews

Terry Crews The Thing
Fox/Marvel Comics

One of the harder Fantastic Four characters to get right, because you need to make him more than just a walking wall who yells "It's clobberin' time!", Ben Grimm should be the heart of the Fantastic Four.

Huge in stature, the Thing is also protective and, despite being made of stone, has a soft heart and sweet nature underneath it all. All of these are qualities embodied by the great Terry Crews, which he's shown time and again on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Crews might be a fair bit older than the rest of the actors mentioned here, but he looks young enough (and you can get away with some wiggle room on account of Reed being such a genius) that the relationship would still work. He's incredibly charismatic, and is equally as capable of being hilarious as he is perpetually annoyed, making him a great fit for both Marvel's style and the Thing's own gruff persona.

He's shown a willingness to take on superhero roles too, with a brief turn in Deadpool 2, and there's much more here for him to get into, both as Grimm and the Thing, where he should bring much more personality than we've seen in the character previously.
