Despite not quite being the household name many predicted him to be, Ben Foster has quietly carved out an impressive career in Hollywood. The 38-year old's performances in films like Hell or High Water, The Program and Leave No Trace has proven that he can handle playing the main role and play support too.

The actor who plays Commander of the Survey Corps, Erwin Smith, needs to be a believable leader and someone who can rally his troops with passionate speeches. Foster has the sort of acting chops that make him credible choice to play the leader of humanity's last hope.

Although Erwin is written as a selfless leader who only hopes to save the people within the walls, he's also willing to make the tough decisions to make sure that happens. We've seen Foster play a character like that brilliantly in the previously mentioned and very underrated, Leave No Trace.

While he might not get the same sort of fanfare response, Foster's prior performances is enough proof that he would be a fantastic addition to the cast.
