Chris Evans: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked

4. Mike Weiss - Puncture (2011)

"No one sees my good little movies," mourned Evans, referring to Puncture, a good little movie featuring one of his best performances. To put Evans' comment into perspective, Puncture made just $68,94 at the box office. When you throw your heart and soul into a project like he did with this one... well, that's gotta hurt.

In the film, which is based on a true story - Evans plays a drug-addicted lawyer named Mike Weiss, who take on a controversial case regarding a nurse who contracted HIV at work... and find himself caught up in a pharmaceutical scandal. The film both admirable and flawed, but is ultimately essential due to Evans.

This flick was a real passion project for the actor, and it shows: playing Weiss offered him the rare opportunity to show the world what he could do, and he delivers a subversive performance as a young, hotshot lawyer who isn't anywhere near as cool as he appears on the surface (i.e. he loves that cocaine).

The film is essentially all about Evans' performance; he lights up the screen at every opportunity and - best of all - makes us believe in a guy who could've ended up as a caricature. His work here deserved way more attention than it received.
