4. Me - Playing It Cool (2014)

At first glance, Playing It Cool looks like a joke. Everything about it, from the plot to the marketing material, has "parody!" written all over it. It's a film about a screenwriter who wants to write action movies, but - for contrived story purposes - the screenwriter's agent wants him to write a romantic comedy first. Of course, Evans' character doesn't believe in love, and - wham! - there's your premise.

More annoyingly, his character is only referred to as "Me" in the film, whilst co-star Michelle Monaghan (who deserves way, way better) is branded as "Her." Clearly not interested, Evans offers up a performance that is almost impressive in its genericness. He sits back, he reads his lines... it might as well be a rehearsal.

Also: Chris Evans as a screenwriter? No, not buying that. Not one bit.
