Chris Pine to choose between KIRK role or WHITE JAZZ?

27 year old actor has been offered the role of Captain Kirk in Star Trek and a role in Carnahan's White Jazz. In the biggest choice his career will ever have, he now must decide which role is for him.

The Hollywood Reporter say the 27 year old actor is in talks for a role in Joe Carnahan's White Jazz AND, he is in advanced negations to play Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek. He now has to decide whether to play the role that William Shatner has owned for so long and what made him a massive star but he never managed to remove himself from, or a role with one of the most talented up and coming directors in a film opposite George Clooney. Interestingly, the role in White Jazz is that of Junior Stemmons, one of the parts that Joe Carnahan had said was already cast alongside that of Glenda. And true to his word... Pine is a Smokin' Aces alumni, he played Darwin Treymor though it would seem he hasn't been cast yet. Maybe Abrams has put a spanner in the works on that one! Pine is a mostly an unknown actor but Hollywood have him pegged as a one to look out for in the future. His credits alongside Smokin' Aces (which is said to be the part that got him noticed for Trek) include the romantic movie Just My Luck alongside Lindsay Lohan and the lead role in a flick that didn't make it across the Atlantic, Blind Dating. The production on Star Trek is set to run between November through till March, with White Jazz having a January start date, so unless a miracle can be performed with sorting out his schedule then he will have to make a choice. The trade claim it's a take it or leave it scenario, so the Kirk role is seemingly his if he wants it. What a place to be in and he now has to make the biggest decision of his young career, and possibly the biggest decision he will ever have in the industry. Once you have played Kirk and also a Star Trek Captain, it kinda defines you for the rest of your career. My reaction to this is the same as it was for Mike Vogel a few weeks back (they kinda look the same too). I don't really know who he is and I preferred it when the name of Matt Damon was mentioned all the time. I trust Abrams for casting. I wonder how much sleep Pine got last night thinking over this one. TO KEEP UP TO DATE WITH ALL THE LATEST STAR TREK NEWS, VISIT OUR MOVIE TRACKER PAGE HERE (we are slowly adding this again)
